Technical Investigator in Cybersecurity

Do you have a technical background in telecommunications and a passion for cybersecurity? We are now looking for a technical investigator who wants to work on critical societal issues where technology, cybersecurity, and regulations intersect. With us, you will help shape the future of cybersecurity and contribute to the implementation of the new cybersecurity law, NIS2.

We work with what everyone takes for granted – the ability to communicate. We ensure that it works now and in the future, for everyone.

The societal need for secure and robust communication has never been greater. To strengthen Sweden's digital resilience, PTS is making a strategic investment where the Department for Secure Communication has been divided into two new departments: Preparedness and Security Protection, and Cybersecurity. The new Department for Cybersecurity will play a central role in ensuring that Sweden's digital infrastructure is developed and protected to meet societal needs. The department operates at both national and international levels with cybersecurity issues to ensure robust and secure networks and services. We also work to protect our privacy with trusted digital services and to ensure that information needed for law enforcement is handled correctly. Through this initiative, PTS strengthens its ability to meet the increasing demands for cybersecurity in society.

About the Role

As a technical investigator, you will work with qualified technical analyses and investigations within cybersecurity and secure electronic communication. The role has a clear technical focus and involves assisting the authority in preparations for the new cybersecurity law that will come into effect in January 2026. You will review how organizations and companies, particularly in the telecommunications sector, conduct their security work and contribute technical documentation for decisions and oversight. The work is varied and developmental. You will participate in the handling and analysis of security incidents, drive and participate in internal and external investigations, and contribute technical expertise in regulatory work related to security requirements according to the cybersecurity law/NIS2. The role also includes representing PTS in contacts with companies, other authorities, and organizations, as well as participating in national and international cooperation, including work at the EU level. You will actively monitor technology and market developments in cybersecurity and electronic communication and contribute to developing the authority's working methods and regulations. The role offers significant room for personal responsibility and the opportunity to influence the direction of your work based on experience and interest. You will work closely with colleagues with various competencies, such as lawyers, economists, and engineers, in an environment where knowledge exchange and development are prioritized.

About You

To thrive and succeed in the role, we see that you are collaborative and comfortable working in a changing environment. You have the ability to adapt to changing conditions and can find new ways forward in assignments and workgroups. Furthermore, you have good analytical skills and can express yourself clearly both verbally and in writing. Your personal qualities are important, and we will place great emphasis on these.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, information technology, or a degree in computer or systems science, or other relevant technical education.
  • At least three years of experience in qualified work within the telecommunications sector.
  • At least two years of experience working with cybersecurity.
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.

It is also advantageous if you have:

  • Certification in cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CISA, CCSK, CCAK).
  • Experience in building and operating networks for electronic communication.
  • Experience in oversight, review, or audit-like methods.
  • Experience in regulatory authority or regulation.
